Have you heard this skit, about the family that decided to stay home from meeting. Instead of attending the T.M.S. and Book Study, they stayed at home to watch the TV. The urban legend goes on to relate, the weak family's child was playing ball in the street, and was hit by a "Bus, Car, Train" and died. Sister rigtheous pioneer, will comment "Oh, If only this family had went to meeting, their child would still be alive!" There are lots of stories, "Home Invasions on Meeting Night" sister "stay at home" was raped, "She would not have been violated, if she had not cancelled her Field Service part." What are local legends about "Not missing meetings" in your area? The sad part, is the brother or sister, who is able to give these comments, with a smile "Don't Miss Meetings, Or Else".

I do remember a family who worked for this business (Independant Contractors, or Franchise?), they were not pioneers nor did they attend very many meetings. They did tell everyone about their business, even dropped business cards in the Kingdom Hall by accident, "I think, it was an accident" T.L. did window tinting too, the name sounds familiar enough.

Higher Education ... Thoughts, Tips, Money-saving Ideas
by RubaDub inwhile i have a bachelors and advanced degree from a very well-respected university, it makes me cringe when i see what people spend (or think they need to spend) to get a college degree.
having taken a few non-traditional steps to get my education, here's a few thoughts and ideas to think about if your kids are getting to be college age or if you (like many jw's) are thinking about going to college later in life:.
1. community colleges are a bargain!.

Avoid "For Profit" Colleges, these companies (Colleges) seem to be always turning up in SEC investigations, USA Today articles about "abuse and fraud". The cost of their degrees are comparable with a good University, and more and more F.I.P. graduates are finding their degrees are a joke. Remember, Federal Student Loans are not absolved in bankruptcy, if you become disabled, your Social Security will be garnished, usually at 10-15 percent for life. It's close to impossible, to have a federal court judge, absolve your student loans. Read more online, stick with your Community College and Universities, they provide a superior education. There is huge money in this industry, ($24 Billion in 2010) lots of promises are made to desperate students, who have been laid-off and need to recalibrate their skills.

Rick Fearon should apologise for accusing faders of being cowards
by cedars ini hate doing this type of thread.
none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.
however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

Rick, I don't know much about your belief system or world view. Are you calling for an overhall of the whole JW doctrine or just a few? Do you belive in the "Trinity, Hell Fire, Immortal Soul, Pre-Destination, End-Time prophecy?" Which areas of the JW culture and belief, pushed you to your current stand? I am eager to learn, what kind of pain, you too have suffered from some bad men. I personally don't belive "elders are picked by Jehovah" My eyes have seen some very bad things take place, and the hackney phrase "wait for Jehovah to clean his congregation", is a diffucult line to swallow, to those who have been waiting for fifty years for justice. Also,
I am sick of "Titles" and those who cling to them, people who assume words like "pioneer, ministerial servant, elder, circuit, disctrict, bethel" conotate "holy, close to God, full of fine works, better than the average jane publisher, Good". I am tired of inept judicial decessions made by men, who think they are guided by the Holy Spirit, but disgrace our Holy God Jehovah. What say you Rick?

Cardiac patient changed his mind, and lived
by Marvin Shilmer incardiac patient changed his mind, and lived .
today i added a new article to my blog sharing the incident of one of jehovahs witnesses who changed his mind about accepting blood transfusion.
he had already had the benefit of bloodless surgery techniques and products, but ended up accepting transfusion of blood after devastating hemorrhage.

Marvin, your reasonable arguments are sound, to date, no real concrete explanation has been provided to me, why "Blood fractions" are different from any other "Blood Product". Your knowledge and expertise in this area, has opened my mind to other ideas, so who am I to judge?. I read one of your papers, and some Nordic Witness was tangling himself up, with his premise of why fractions are not blood, leaving the reader with more confusion.. I am going to read your blog posts again, to get a better footing on the subject. Thank you for taking your time, to make a difference, in the spirit of education and empowerment!

"Get out of the bleachers and into the game"... Memorial 2012 demonstration.
by koolaid-man innow is a good time to start making preparations for the memorial night demonstration at your kingdom hall thursday, april 5, 2012, after sundown.. close to 20 million people will attend this annual global witness event including active witnesses, relatives and friends of witnesses, bible studies, return visits and still attached former witnesses.
the evils of the watchtower org.have to be exposed and this is an ideal time to do it.. many around the world have been adversely affected by their association with jehovah's witnesses and you can be an instrumental force by standing tall and courageously exposing the watchtower organization.. there is no better way to let the watchtower know your revulsion than to broadcast and present your view by standing fearlessly, demonstrating in front of a kingdom hall.. i am fully aware that a handful of the internet therapists who post on this forum will not agree with this method of unmasking the watchtower.. those intolerant, contemptuous critics who will comment on this thread making harsh judgements and finding fault with those who protest are perhaps deep-down wishing they had the backbone to stop hiding in cyber-space, step away from their computer and "get out of the bleachers and into the game" .
lets make this a global event!......

Rick, thinking about what Marvin Shilmer said, I do agree, you are probably enraged for belief in a half-truth,and your voice which fell upon deaf ears at Brooklyn. Don't do anything rash, can't you try to be like the knowledgable "Old Apostate On The Hill" who I still remember, after 38 years? use education, kindness, and a soft demeanor, you know "Louder does not mean righter" and you will be the one, who suffers deep frustration!

What's The Worst Thing You've Heard An Elder Say Or Do?

as another thread, they simply ignore the person as if they're dead!.

"outsmartthesystem" Our circuit was told about Bethel opening up their doors, for the 9/11 victims. The military and soon-to-be Homeland Security, only allowed JWs, after Christendom failed to provide hope for the victims. I have seen bad things, but I do wonder and can't imagine a blunder that huge? I can't see Bethel blundering that bad, and sending potential converts packing. The P.R. would be "hell to pay".

Becareful Marvin,
I was in one of the major hospitals eight years ago, and was doing the rounds (Clergy Priv). I stumbled upon a man inconsolable, tears he had accepted "Blood", it was not his proudest moment in life. I listened, did not judge and allowed him to tell me, what lead to his choice. He was bleeding to death from a stomach ulcer, the doctors told him "You are going to die, if you do not take blood!" he took the blood. Durning my eight days visiting, I checked repeatedly, worried about his emotional state and spiritual state. His heavy guilt and worrying how he betrayed Jehovah and the friends, is beyond description. He judged himself worthy of Gehenna and felt like a spiritual failure. I tried to avoid any personal judgement (I am not God) and focused on upbuilding conversations, tryiing to ameloriate this broken hearted man. One of the worst feelings there is, is wondering if you helped a crushed reed grow again. I hope the cardiac patient is not beating himself to pieces, while alone in thought.
